An Act To Encourage Youth Hunting
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §11402, sub-§4, ¶C, as enacted by PL 2003, c. 414, Pt. A, §2 and affected by c. 614, §9, is amended to read:
C. Establish a youth deer hunting day. Notwithstanding section 11501, subsection 2, the rules may not preclude a person who takes a deer on youth deer hunting day from further hunting for deer, and the rules must allow the person to take an additional deer during other open deer seasons.
Sec. 2. 12 MRSA §11751-A, sub-§3-A is enacted to read:
3-A. Exception. Notwithstanding subsection 3, a person who takes a turkey on youth spring wild turkey hunting day as established by department rule is not precluded from further hunting for turkey and may take an additional turkey during turkey hunting season.

This bill allows a person who takes a deer on youth deer hunting day to take one additional deer during other open deer seasons. The bill also allows a person who takes a turkey on youth spring wild turkey hunting day to take an additional turkey during turkey hunting season.
