Resolve, Directing the Department of Environmental Protection To Study Construction and Demolition Debris Recycling

Sec. 1. Construction and demolition debris analysis. Resolved: That the Department of Environmental Protection shall conduct a study and examine the quantity of recyclable material that can be removed from debris at a recycling facility where there is demolition and construction debris under normal operating practices at a recycling facility; and be it further

Sec. 2. Report. Resolved: That the Department of Environmental Protection shall create a report of its findings and make suggestions for minimum standards for waste reduction and resource recovery that a facility would have to meet in order to deposit the residual waste in a state-owned landfill. The committee shall report its findings to the Joint Standing Committee on Natural Resources by February 1, 2008; and be it further

Sec. 3. Legislation on waste reduction. Resolved: That the Joint Standing Committee on Natural Resources is authorized to submit legislation that would set minimum standards for waste reduction and resource recovery that a recycling facility would have to meet in order to deposit the residual waste in a state-owned landfill to the Second Regular Session of the 123rd Legislature.
