Item 9
Bill Tracking Chamber Status

Amend the amendment by striking out all of section 11 and inserting the following:

Sec. 11. Contingent effective date. This Act does not take effect until the State has received sufficient federal funding to fully cover the State’s cost of compliance with the federal REAL ID Act of 2005. The Secretary of State, in consultation with appropriate agencies of State Government, shall determine the costs to the State of implementation of compliance. The Secretary of State shall provide notice to the Secretary of the Senate, the Clerk of the House and the Revisor of Statutes when this contingency has been met.’

SUMMARY

This amendment places a contingent effective date on the bill to delay implementation until after federal funding is received to fully cover the State’s cost of compliance with the federal REAL ID Act of 2005. The Secretary of State is required to consult with other state agencies to determine the cost of compliance. This amendment also removes the appropriations and allocations section from the committee amendment.
