An Act To Prevent Retailers from Selling Liquor below Cost

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

Sec. 1. 28-A MRSA §2089  is enacted to read:

§ 2089 Sale of liquor below cost prohibited

An agency liquor store or any other retailer may not sell liquor at retail sale for less than the cost of that liquor to that agency liquor store or retailer. A person who violates this section commits a civil violation for which a fine of not more than $500 may be adjudged.

This bill prohibits an agency liquor store or any other retailer from selling liquor at retail sale for less than the cost of that liquor to that agency liquor store or retailer. The bill provides that a violation of this provision is a civil violation for which a fine of not more than $500 may be adjudged.
