Resolve, To Study the Distribution of Revenue Sharing

Sec. 1. Revenue sharing distribution study commission. Resolved: That the Treasurer of State shall convene a study commission consisting of officials from state, county and municipal governments, including, but not limited to, a representative of a municipality with a population of fewer than 10,000 residents and a representative of a municipality with a population of at least 50,000 residents. The commission shall study the efficiency of the current system of state-municipal revenue sharing as required under the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 30-A, section 5681. The commission shall develop recommendations to improve the administration and distribution of state-municipal revenue sharing and shall submit its report and recommendations, with any necessary implementing legislation, to the Joint Standing Committee on State and Local Government no later than December 15, 2007. After receipt and review of the report, the committee may submit legislation to the Second Regular Session of the 123rd Legislature.
