| The requirement that those school personnel whose employment requires the approval of the Department of Education must receive a written job performance evaluation before the end of the first year of employment and that a school board must establish resonable criteria and job performance standards to be used in the perfomance evaluation represents a state mandate pursuant tot he Constitution of Maine. The additional local costs can not be determined at this time but may be significant. Unless General Fund appropriations are provided to fund at least 90% of the additional costs of a Mandate Preamble is amended to the bill and two-thirds of the members of each House vote to exempt this mandate from the funding requirement, the local school administrative units may not be required to implement these changes. | School | Significant | ||||
