	Although no Highway Fund  resources have been allocated for this purpose, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles within the Department of the Secretary of State estimates that it will cost $185,000,000 over the next 5 years to comply with the current requirements of the Federal Real ID Act of 2005. Therefore, prohibiting the participation of the State of Maine in the  federal requirements will avoid  these potential Highway Fund costs.
