| This bill includes a one-time General Fund appropriation of $30,000 in fiscal year 2007-08 to the General Purpose Aid for Local Schools program within the Department of Education for the establishment of the Sanford Applied Technology Center. It is unclear whether the intent of this legislation is to appropriate funds for an applied technology center to provide career and technical education as part of the K-12 public school system or the technology centers established in 5 MRSA §15321 to "permit early-stage development of technology-based businesses while minimizing or eliminating debilitating overhead expenses." If the intent is for the funds to be appropriated for the early-stage development of technology-based businesses, then this bill should be amended to appropriate the funds to the Applied Technology Development Center System program within the Department of Economic and Community Development. | ||||||
