| Establishes a new account, the Halibut Fund, within the Department of Marine Resources and provides an Other Special Revenue Funds allocation of $10,763 in fiscal year 2008-2009 for halibut research and implementation of management measures for the halibut fishery. | ||||||
| In accordance with 12 M.R.S.A., §10206, the Department of Marine Resources had established an account to receive a portion of money collected relating to watercraft. That section of law described the distribution of revenue into the Fund but did not describe the Fund's purpose. This bill specifically establishes the Watercraft Fund in the Department of Marine Resources to fund vessel operations and maintenance and safety and enforcement programs. | ||||||
