| Potential future biennium savings - General Fund | ||||||
| Fiscal Detail and Notes | ||||||
| Allowing school administrative units to use an alternative school calendar will not affect General Fund appropriations to the General Purpose Aid for Local Schools program within the Department of Education through the 2010-2011 biennium. This legislation may result in savings to those local school administrative units who implement an alternative school calendar in such areas as transportation and utilities. To the extent that those savings are eventually factored into the total cost of funding K-12 public education and the State's share of that cost, there is a potential for savings to the State in future biennia. The amount can not be determined at this time and will depend on the number of school administrative units that use an alternative school calendar and the amount of savings achieved. | ||||||
