| Eliminating the requirement that municipal school units, school administrative districts and community school districts provide transportation for public preschool students will not affect General Fund appropriations to the General Purpose Aid for Local Schools program within the Department of Education through the 2010-2011 biennium. This legislation may result in lower transportation costs for local school administrative units beginning in fiscal year 2009-10. The amount can not be determined at this time. To the extent that those savings are eventually factored into the total cost of funding K-12 public education and the State's share of that cost, there is a potential for savings to the State in future biennia. | ||||||
