Amend the bill by striking out the title and substituting the following:

‘Resolve, To Recognize Vietnam Veterans’

Amend the bill in the emergency preamble by striking out all of the 2nd Whereas paragraph (page 1, lines 3 and 4 in L.D.) and inserting the following:

Whereas,  ‘the United States Department of Defense has begun a project to pay tribute to Vietnam veterans and the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War; and

Whereas,  to provide the State with adequate time to pay an appropriate tribute to Maine's Vietnam veterans, this legislation needs to take effect immediately; and’

Amend the bill in the last Whereas paragraph in the last line (page 1, line 8 in L.D.) by inserting after the following: "therefore," the following: 'be it'

Amend the bill by striking out the enacting clause and section 1 (page 1, lines 9 to 16 in L.D.)

Amend the amendment in section 2 in the first line (page 1, line 12 in amendment) by striking out the following: "Sec. 2. Fiftieth anniversary program. The" and inserting the following: 'Sec. 1. Fiftieth anniversary program. Resolved: That the'

This amendment amends Committee Amendment "A" to strike that section of the bill that designates March 29th as Vietnam Veterans Day.
