An Act To Encourage Coyote Management

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §11152, sub-§8 is enacted to read:

8. Hunters who kill 10 coyotes. A complimentary anterless deer permit may be issued to a resident of the State who has killed 10 coyotes pursuant to section 12002.

Sec. 2. 12 MRSA §12002 is enacted to read:

§ 12002. Complimentary license for killed coyotes

A person who hunts coyote and who has killed 10 coyotes within one year may be issued a complimentary antlerless deer permit under section 11152 upon application to the commissioner and upon certification of the coyotes killed. The commissioner shall adopt rules governing the certification of coyotes killed under this section. Rules adopted pursuant to this section are routine technical rules as defined in Title 5, chapter 375, subchapter 2-A.

This bill allows a complimentary anterless deer permit to any hunter who has killed 10 coyotes within one year.
