Amend the bill by inserting after the enacting clause and before section 1 the following:
‘Sec. 1. 30-A MRSA §373, sub-§1, as enacted by PL 1987, c. 737, Pt. A, §2 and Pt. C, §106 and amended by PL 1989, c. 6; c. 9, §2; and c. 104, Pt. C, §§8 and 10, is further amended to read:
Amend the bill in section 1 in subsection 3 by striking out all of paragraph C (page 1, lines 13 and 14 in L.D.)
Amend the bill by striking out all of section 2 (page 1, lines 15 to 19 in L.D.)
Amend the bill in section 3 in §374 in the first paragraph in the last 2 lines (page 1, lines 25 and 26 in L.D.) by striking out the following: " and are incidental and irregular" and inserting the following: ' , with irregular hours'
Amend the bill by relettering or renumbering any nonconsecutive Part letter or section number to read consecutively.

This amendment makes the following changes to the bill.
1. It corrects a cross-reference in the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 30-A, section 373, subsection 1 that refers to county sheriffs receiving an annual salary as set out in Title 30-A, section 2. Public Law 2003, chapter 696 repealed the reference to the salaries of county officers in Title 30-A, section 2.
2. It removes the requirement for county sheriffs to be paid on intervals no less than once a month.
3. It removes the language that sets up a procedure for a county sheriff to appeal to the Superior Court if the sheriff is dissatisfied with the salary.
4. It strikes the words "incidental and irregular" from the section relating to a nonstandard work schedule and clarifies that the county sheriff works irregular hours.
