JOINT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE MAINE CREDIT UNION LEAGUE FOR ITS ASSISTANCE TO THE CITIZENS OF THE STATE AFFECTED BY A BUSINESS CLOSURE
WHEREAS, the recent and sudden closure of a longtime oil company, Thibeault Energy, in the midcoast region has affected a number of area residents who prepaid for oil and who were left with 3 months more of the heating season and no money to buy more oil; and
WHEREAS, 5 midcoast credit unions came forward to help the people in need by offering loans with no interest and no credit check to the citizens who were left wondering how they were going to come up with funds to heat their homes; and
WHEREAS, this credit union program to assist consumers is an example of the generosity of local businesses helping those in need and stepping up to do the right thing, and we take this opportunity to send our appreciation to:
1. Atlantic Regional Federal Credit Union, Brunswick, Freeport and Topsham;
2. Down East Credit Union, Topsham;
3. Five County Credit Union, Bath, Lisbon and Topsham;
4. Lisbon Community Federal Credit Union; and
5. Midcoast Federal Credit Union, Bath and Brunswick; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED: That We, the Members of the One Hundred and Twenty-fifth Legislature now assembled in the First Regular Session, on behalf of the people we represent, take this opportunity to acknowledge the Maine Credit Union League, whose members helped local citizens in need; and be it further
RESOLVED: That suitable copies of this resolution, duly authenticated by the Secretary of State, be transmitted to the Atlantic Regional Federal Credit Union, Down East Credit Union, Five County Credit Union, Lisbon Community Federal Credit Union and Midcoast Federal Credit Union.
