Resolve, To Direct the Department of Transportation To Restrict Spending on the Ricker Hill Bridge in the Town of Turner
Emergency preamble. Whereas, acts and resolves of the Legislature do not become effective until 90 days after adjournment unless enacted as emergencies; and
Whereas, planning and construction of a bridge in the Town of Turner are necessary and timely and costs must be contained for this bridge; and
Whereas, the planning and construction of a bridge in the Town of Turner might be initiated before the 90-day period expires; and
Whereas, in the judgment of the Legislature, these facts create an emergency within the meaning of the Constitution of Maine and require the following legislation as immediately necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety; now, therefore, be it
Sec. 1. Spending limit. Resolved: That the Department of Transportation may not exceed the amount of $350,000 to build a bridge on the Ricker Hill Road over Martin Stream in the Town of Turner.
Emergency clause. In view of the emergency cited in the preamble, this legislation takes effect when approved.
