An Act Relating to Maine Farm Wineries

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:

Sec. 1. 28-A MRSA §1355, sub-§3, ¶E  is enacted to read:

E A holder of a farm winery license may sell wine produced at the farm winery at a farmers’ market as provided in Title 7, section 415.

Sec. 2. 28-A MRSA §1355, sub-§3, ¶F  is enacted to read:

F A holder of a farm winery license may display up to 25 bottles in the windows of any premises maintained by the holder of the farm winery license where wine produced at the farm winery is sold.

Sec. 3. Signage. The Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources shall work with the Department of Transportation and a statewide organization representing farm wineries to develop a uniform system of signage identifying the locations of farm wineries in the State.

This bill provides that the holder of a farm winery license from the Department of Public Safety, Bureau of Liquor Enforcement may sell wine at farmers’ markets, permits the licensee to display up to 25 bottles of wine in a shop window and directs the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources to work with the Department of Transportation and a statewide organization representing farm wineries to develop a uniform system of signage identifying the locations of farm wineries.
