Amend the bill by striking out the title and substituting the following:

‘An Act To Change the Membership of the State Board of Nursing’

Amend the bill by striking out everything after the enacting clause and before the summary and inserting the following:

Sec. 1. 32 MRSA §2152, sub-§1,  as amended by PL 1995, c. 379, §6, is further amended to read:

1. Professional nurses.   Six Seven professional nurses, each of whom:
A. Must be a graduate of a state-approved educational program in professional nursing;
B. Holds a current state license to practice nursing; and
C. Has at least 3 years' experience in active practice immediately preceding appointment.

A minimum of 2 professional nurses must be active in an approved educational program in nursing. A minimum of 2 professional nurses must be active in nursing service. One of the professional nurse members of the board must be practicing long-term care nursing. One Two of the professional nurse members of the board must be an advanced practice registered nurse nurses;

Sec. 2. 32 MRSA §2152, sub-§3,  as amended by PL 1993, c. 600, Pt. A, §121, is further amended to read:

3. Public member.   Two One public members member. A person may not qualify for appointment as a public member of the board if that person or a member of that person's immediate family is serving as:
A. A member of another state licensing board;
B. On the board of another health care agency; and
C. Engaged for compensation in the provision of health services or the provision of health research, instruction or insurance.’

This amendment is the minority report of the committee. It replaces the bill and changes the membership of the State Board of Nursing by adding an additional advanced practice registered nurse and reducing the number of public members appointed to the board by one.
