| Removing the requirement that underground oil storage tanks (USTs) be removed from service and properly abandoned in certain circumstances if the USTs are tested according to standards set forth in statutory law will, according to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), allow more leaks in single-walled USTs to go undetected. This may raise expenditures for related clean-up costs paid out of the Ground Water Oil Clean-up Fund. The amount of leaking that may occur and the subsequent cost of clean-up cannot be estimated at this time. | ||||||
