| This legislation proposes to provide veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars a bonus after each deployment and to provide a bonus to veterans who served at least 6 months active duty subsequent to September 11, 2001 but did not serve in these wars. While it is difficult to determine the exact number of veterans who may be eligible, the Department of Defense, Veterans and Emergency Management has estimated the cost at approximately $17,000,000. | ||||||
