This legislation
could result in Other Special Revenue Funds savings due to decreased payments
to qualified candidates. This analysis
assumes a certain number of candidates who would otherwise run as Maine Clean
Election Act candidates will opt out of the program in order to establish a
political action committee and accept more than $10,000 in
contributions. During the 2010
election cycle, $334,000 in Maine Clean Election Funds was paid to candidates
who established leadership political action committees. |
