Reduction of the potential loss of unbudgeted revenue - General

Eliminating
the bill's doubling from $20,000 to $40,000 of the amount each prosecutorial
district is allowed to hold in the Extradition and Prosecution Expenses
Account will reduce the amount of the potential loss of unbudgeted revenue
created by the bill. The expansion of
expenditures allowed by the bill to include witness fees and expenses
incurred by district attorneys in criminal prosecutions still means that the
amount in excess of the $20,000 limit available to be transferred to the
General Fund will be less than without the bill. No estimate is made of the amount not
transferred to the General Fund because of the uncertainties of which
districts will have forfeited bail money to replenish their accounts and what
levels of spending will occur in each. |
