| This bill requires the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) to obtain the approval of the Legislature, instead of providing notice to the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over utilities and energy matters, prior to requiring an investor-owned transmission and distribution utility to enter into a long-term contract for energy efficiency capacity resources. If this approval is required at a time when the Legislature is not in regular session, a special session of the Legislature is required at a projected cost of approximately $45,000 per day. The PUC can absorb any additional costs within existing budgeted resources. | ||||||
