An Act To Increase Municipal Agent Fees for Licensing and Registration of Motor Vehicles
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 29-A MRSA §201, sub-§3, ¶A, as enacted by PL 1993, c. 683, Pt. A, §2 and affected by Pt. B, §5, is amended to read:
A. A municipal agent may charge an applicant a fee not to exceed $3 $5 over the required fee for each renewal of license or registration issued and a fee not to exceed $4 $6 over the required fee for each new license or registration issued.

This bill increases the motor vehicle licensing and registration service fees that may be assessed, collected and retained by municipalities. The allowable service fee for the renewal of a license or registration is increased from $3 to $5, and the allowable service fee for the issuance of a new license or registration is increased from $4 to $6.
