Resolve, To Enhance and Encourage Economic Development of the Lower Penobscot River Basin by Improving Rail Transportation

Sec. 1. Department of Transportation to study feasibility and cost of improving rail line from Brewer to Bucksport. Resolved: That the Department of Transportation, referred to in this resolve as "the department," shall conduct a study to determine the feasibility and cost of improving the railroad line from the City of Brewer to the Town of Bucksport. The department shall explore all potential sources of federal and state funds for the improvement of the railroad line from the City of Brewer to the Town of Bucksport; and be it further

Sec. 2. Report. Resolved: That, by February 1, 2014, the department shall submit a report with findings and recommendations, which may include proposed legislation, to the Joint Standing Committee on Transportation. The Joint Standing Committee on Transportation may submit a bill to the Second Regular Session of the 126th Legislature relating to the subject matter of the report.

This resolve directs the Department of Transportation to conduct a study to determine the feasibility and cost of improving the railroad line from the City of Brewer to the Town of Bucksport and to submit a report with findings and recommendations to the Joint Standing Committee on Transportation no later than February 1, 2014. The resolve also gives the Joint Standing Committee on Transportation authority to submit a bill relating to the subject matter of the report to the Second Regular Session of the 126th Legislature.
