Amend the bill by striking out the title and substituting the following:

‘An Act To Remove the Concealed Handgun Permit Requirement for Carrying a Concealed Handgun for Persons Who Are Maine Residents and Are Not Otherwise Prohibited from Possessing a Firearm’

Amend the bill by striking out everything after the enacting clause and before the summary and inserting the following:

Sec. 1. 25 MRSA §2001-A, sub-§2, ¶A-1  is enacted to read:

A-1 A handgun carried by a person who is a resident of this State and is not otherwise prohibited from possessing a firearm;

Sec. 2. Appropriations and allocations. The following appropriations and allocations are made.

Initiative: Eliminates 2 Office Associate I positions as a result of eliminating the requirement for concealed handgun permits for certain individuals.

This amendment strikes and replaces the bill and is the minority report.
