Amend the order on page 3 by striking out all of subsection 5 and inserting the following:

5. Compensation. The legislative members of the advisory committee are entitled to receive the legislative per diem, as defined in the Maine Revised Statutes, Title 3, section 2, and reimbursement for travel and other necessary expenses related to their attendance at authorized meetings of the advisory committee. Public members not otherwise compensated by their employers or other entities that they represent are entitled to receive reimbursement of necessary expenses and, upon a demonstration of financial hardship, a per diem equal to the legislative per diem for their attendance at authorized meetings of the advisory committee.’

This amendment specifies that the Legislative Council, on behalf of the Maine Health Exchange Advisory Committee, may accept from the Department of Professional and Financial Regulation, Bureau of Insurance and the Department of Health and Human Services grant funding made available to the State. The amendment also specifies that the Legislative Council, on behalf of the advisory committee, may apply for and receive funds, grants or contracts to support its work.

The amendment further amends the joint order to add standard compensation language and reporting dates to comply with Legislative Council legislative study guidelines.
