‘Sec. 8. 12 MRSA §6505-A, sub-§5-B is enacted to read:
5-B. Designation of assistant. A person issued a license under this section may designate a person to assist that license holder in fishing for or taking elvers only in accordance with this subsection.
A. A license holder may designate a person to assist that license holder if the license holder is more than 65 years of age or has a physical condition that requires such assistance.
B. A license holder may not designate more than 2 people to assist that license holder in fishing for or taking elvers.
C. A person designated as an assistant pursuant to this subsection may not lift or empty an elver fyke net, Sheldon eel trap or elver dip net or engage in the sale of elvers.
D. A person designated as an assistant pursuant to this subsection may assist in setting gear and transporting the license holder's catch as long as the assistant is within the sight of the license holder.’
