An Act Regarding the Annual Service Fee for Child Support Services Provided by the Department of Health and Human Services

Sec. 1. 22 MRSA §51  is enacted to read:

§ 51.  Annual service fee

The department shall pay the $25 annual fee required by the federal Deficit Reduction Act of 2005, Public Law 109-171, for the assistance of the department in the collection of child support for families that are not receiving assistance under the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families program under chapter 1053-B for whom the department has collected over $500 during the federal fiscal year.

This bill requires the Department of Health and Human Services to pay the $25 annual fee required by the federal Deficit Reduction Act of 2005, Public Law 109-171, for the assistance of the department in the collection of child support for certain families. This bill reverses an initiative enacted in Public Law 2011, chapter 477.
