An Act To Establish the Computer Crimes Unit Fund and Authorize the Department of Public Safety To Accept Donations for the Fund

Sec. 1. 25 MRSA §1510  is enacted to read:

§ 1510.  Computer Crimes Unit Fund

The Computer Crimes Unit Fund, referred to in this section as "the fund," is established within the Department of Public Safety. The department may accept donations to the fund for the purposes of establishing, maintaining and operating a computer crimes laboratory. Restrictions on solicitations under section 3702-C apply to any solicitations made for donation to the fund. The fund must be held separate and apart from all other money, funds and accounts. Any balance remaining in the fund at the end of any fiscal year must be carried forward to the next fiscal year.
