Requires completion of a one-day course in suicide prevention and intervention training for a minimum of 2 persons per school administrative unit, island school, charter school and public school that is not in a school administrative unit. School Moderate statewide
Requires completion of a one to 2 hour in-service training module in suicide prevention awareness education by all school personnel. School Insignificant statewide
The required local activities in this bill may represent a State mandate pursuant to the Constitution of Maine.  Unless General Fund appropriations are provided to fund at least 90% of the additional costs or a Mandate Preamble is amended to the bill and two-thirds of the members of each House vote to exempt this mandate from the funding requirement, municipalities may not be required to implement these changes.

Additional costs to the Department of Education associated with the rulemaking process can be absorbed within existing budgeted resources.
