Fiscal Detail and Notes
This legislation increases the license suspension period for a first-time OUI offender from 90 to 180 days and allows the person's license to be reinstated immediately if the person installs an ignition interlock device.  It also increases the reinstatement fee in this circumstance from $50 to $100.  The Department of the Secretary of State would require a Highway Fund allocation of $63,949 in fiscal year 2013-14 and $63,353 in fiscal year 2014-15 for one Office Associate II position and related costs to process additional requests for ignition interlock devices and monitor compliance.  Highway Fund revenues would increase by $80,000 beginning in fiscal year 2013-14 from the increased reinstatement fee.
