Fiscal Detail
and Notes |
This bill includes
ongoing Federal Expenditures Fund allocations of $400,000 per year beginning
in fiscal year 2014-15 to the Regulation and Enforcement program within the
Department of Labor for the costs associated with the Bureau of Labor
Standards conducting public sector consultation and enforcement
services. |
This legislation
will conform current Maine law regarding enforcement of workplace safety to
federal law and allow for the State to become eligible to receive a federal
grant of up to $400,000 per year for the cost of providing public sector
enforcement and consultation services. The Bureau currently provides these
services utilizing funds in the Safety Education and Training Fund, Other
Special Revenues Funds account, which is funded through an annual assessment
levied based on actual workers' compensation paid losses. |
