Fiscal Detail and Notes
This bill delays potential revenue to the Metallic Mining Fund within the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) from delaying the implementation of a processing fee of $500,000 and an annual license fee of between $20,000 and $50,000 related to metallic mineral mining. The implementation date of these fees is changed from June 1, 2014 to June 1, 2016, although it is uncertain when the DEP will actually receive any revenue from these fees. The DEP will incur costs from delaying certain planned changes to Title 38 that were in Public Law 2011, Chapter 653. All of these expenses will be covered by the Metallic Mining Fund and there are sufficient funds available due to a transfer of $500,000 required under Public Law 2011, Chapter 653.
