Changes in
sentencing will increase costs to the Maine Commission on Indigent Legal
Services by an average of $638 per case, with new cases estimated to cost
$1,500 per case. The Department of
Corrections will also experience incarceration costs. The average daily cost is $107.71 per
prisoner. The total number of individuals charged and sentenced in any fiscal
year cannot be estimated at this time. |
