An Act To Authorize 3-day All-terrain Vehicle Registration Reciprocity with the Provinces of New Brunswick and Quebec
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §13155, sub-§2-A is enacted to read:
2-A. Reciprocity. The commissioner may allow a nonresident to operate in this State an ATV that is not registered in this State during one 3-consecutive-day period, 2 days of which are weekend days, annually if:
A. The nonresident's ATV has a valid registration from the Canadian province of New Brunswick or Quebec; and
B. The nonresident's province of residency allows an ATV registered in Maine to be operated in that province for a period of time of at least 3 consecutive days without being registered in that province.
This subsection may not be construed to authorize the operation of an ATV in a manner contrary to this chapter except as provided in this subsection.
Sec. 2. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 2018.
SUMMARY
This bill establishes, beginning July 1, 2018, a 3-day all-terrain vehicle registration reciprocity with the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick and Quebec.
