An Act To Confer Categorical Eligibility for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Benefit Applications
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 22 MRSA §3104, sub-§13-A is enacted to read:
13-A. Categorical eligibility. The department shall confer broad-based categorical eligibility for food supplement benefits to a household with gross income equal to or below 185% of the nonfarm income official poverty level as provided for in 7 United States Code, Section 2014.
SUMMARY
This bill requires the Department of Health and Human Services to consider a household with a gross income at or below 185% of the federal poverty level eligible for food supplement benefits.
