An Act To Allow Beano at Campgrounds
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 17 MRSA §313-B is enacted to read:
§ 313-B. Exemption for campgrounds
Notwithstanding section 312, subsection 1, a private campground or a campground operated by the State or the Federal Government may conduct beano without a license as long as the following criteria are met.
1. Minimum number of campsites. The campground offers a minimum of 15 individual campsites for patrons.
2. Games for patrons only. Beano games are offered exclusively to campground patrons and guests of campground patrons.
3. Prize value. A prize awarded to a winner of a beano game may not exceed a value of $25 for any one game.
4. Proceeds. Proceeds from fees charged to campground patrons and their guests to participate in a beano game may be used only to pay for prizes awarded to players and cover the actual costs incurred to operate the games.
SUMMARY
This bill provides an exception to the law that requires a license to conduct games of beano. The bill states that certain campgrounds are not required to get a license to operate beano games if the games are offered to campground patrons and their guests only and the value of a prize awarded for winning a game does not exceed $25.
