Resolve, To Direct the Adjutant General To Procure Medals for Maine National Guard Members Mobilized for the 1958-1961 Berlin Crisis
Sec. 1. Adjutant General shall procure and award medals for Maine National Guard members mobilized for the Berlin crisis. Resolved: That the Adjutant General shall procure an adequate number of National Emergency Service Medals authorized under General Order #29, 27 July 1962 for National Guard members mobilized during the 1958-1961 Berlin crisis and award a medal to each former member of the Maine National Guard entitled to receive the medal at a ceremony held at a date and time determined by the Adjutant General. If a former member of the Maine National Guard entitled to receive a medal under this section is deceased, the Adjutant General shall officially award a medal posthumously to the member and present that member’s medal to the next of kin of that member or another family member at the ceremony under this section. If a former member of the Maine National Guard entitled to receive a medal under this section has already been awarded the medal, the Adjutant General shall recognize that former member at the ceremony, to which the former member and former member's family must be invited.

This resolve directs the Adjutant General to procure an adequate number of National Emergency Service Medals for Maine National Guard members' service during the 1958-1961 Berlin crisis and award the medals in a ceremony to former members entitled to the medal and, if a former member entitled to receive the medal is deceased, award a medal to that member posthumously and present the medal to the next of kin or another family member. The medals, while authorized in 1962, were never awarded.
