An Act To Provide Lung Cancer Screening for MaineCare Recipients
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 22 MRSA §3174-ZZ is enacted to read:
§ 3174-ZZ. Lung cancer screening reimbursement
1. Reimbursement. The department shall provide for the reimbursement under the MaineCare program of annual screening for lung cancer with low-dose computed tomography for recipients who are 55 years of age to 80 years of age and who:
A. Have a smoking history of 30 packs of cigarettes or more per year; and
B. Currently smoke or have quit smoking within the past 15 years.
2. Rulemaking. The department may adopt rules to implement this section. Rules adopted pursuant to this subsection are routine technical rules as defined by Title 5, chapter 375, subchapter 2-A.

This bill requires that annual screening for lung cancer for certain recipients be reimbursed under the MaineCare program. The Department of Health and Human Services may adopt routine technical rules to implement this requirement.
