An Act To Mandate the Reporting of a Planned Act of Terrorism by a Person with Knowledge of That Plan
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 17-A MRSA §517 is enacted to read:
§ 517. Failure to report planned act of terrorism
1. A person is guilty of failure to report a planned act of terrorism if that person has knowledge of a plan to perform an act of terrorism and that person does not report that planned act of terrorism to an appropriate criminal justice agency.
2. For purposes of this section, "terrorism" means the use of intentionally indiscriminate violence as a means to create terror or fear in order to achieve a political, religious or ideological aim.
3. Failure to report a planned act of terrorism is a Class E crime.
