An Act To Require a Veterinarian to be Present at an Agricultural Fair

Sec. 1. 7 MRSA §83-A  is enacted to read:

§ 83-A.  Presence of a licensed veterinarian at agricultural fairs

A licensee may not hold an agricultural fair licensed under section 83 unless a licensed veterinarian is present during the hours of operation of the fair or the licensee has arranged for a licensed veterinarian to be available on call for those hours. The commissioner may adopt rules necessary to carry out the purposes of this section. Rules adopted pursuant to this section are routine technical rules as defined in Title 5, chapter 375, subchapter 2-A.

SUMMARY

This bill requires a licensed veterinarian to be on the premises or available on call during all agricultural fairs.
