Eliminating Maine Clean Election Act funding for gubernatorial candidates will reduce anticipated spending by $4,572,626 in fiscal year 2017-18 and by $1,725,247 in fiscal year 2018-19 from eliminating distributions to gubernatorial candidates and from elimination of one temporary project position. Allocations to the Commission on Governmental Ethics and Election Practices can be reduced accordingly. The loss of qualifying contributions from gubernatorial candidates will reduce revenue to the Maine Clean Election Fund by $124,000 in fiscal year 2017-18 and $60,000 in fiscal year 2018-19.
