|
This bill
includes ongoing General Fund appropriations of $4.0 million per year
beginning in fiscal year 2017-18 to the General Purpose Aid for Local Schools
program within the Department of Education to be distributed as start-up
grants for expanded access to public preschool programs for children 4 years
of age. |

The bill also
includes a General Fund appropriation of $75,436 in fiscal year 2018-19 to
the Learning Systems program within the Department to continue 2 Education
Specialist II positions that currently provide administrative and technical
support to the public preschool program that was implemented utilizing funds
from a federal four-year $14.8 million Preschool Expansion Grant received by
the Department in January of 2015.
These positions were established as limited-period positions that will
end when the federal grant expires in December of 2018. This bill includes General Fund support for
the 2 positions beginning in January of 2019.
The General Fund cost to fully fund these positions after that is
estimated to be $159,141 in fiscal year 2019-20 and $164,994 in fiscal year
2020-21. |

This bill
includes an Other Special Revenue Funds allocation of $23,456 in fiscal year
2018-19 to the Leadership Team to support a portion of the cost of one of the
2 Education Specialist II positions that is funded by a transfer from the
Child Development Services program. |
