Delaying the
effective date of this legislation may result in Disability Rights Maine
being forced to vacate newly renovated facilities it leases from the
Department of Administrative and Financial Services (DAFS) at the Maine
Educational Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing and the Governor Baxter
School for the Deaf (MECDHH/GBSD). The
Office of the Attorney General had indicated this legislation would be
required in order for Disability Rights Maine to continue leasing this space
after the current temporary lease expires on May 1, 2018. Should the leased facility be vacated, DAFS
and MECDHH/GBSD would lose the lease revenue. |
