An Act To Prohibit the Use of Electroconvulsive Therapy for Certain Populations
Sec. 1. 34-B MRSA c. 1, sub-c. 9 is enacted to read:

LIMITATIONS ON USE OF ELECTROCONVULSIVE THERAPY
§ 1971. Limitations on use of electroconvulsive therapy
A health care provider may not use electroconvulsive therapy on a child, a person 65 years of age or older or a person who is pregnant. For the purposes of this subchapter, "health care provider" means a licensed mental health services provider, a physician licensed under Title 32, chapter 36 or 48 and operating in this State or a corporation or business entity engaged primarily in the provision of physician health care services.
