An Act To Simplify Apprenticeship Requirements for Student and Apprentice Lobster and Crab Fishing License Holders
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §6422, sub-§1-A is enacted to read:
1-A. Validation of experience. The commissioner shall allow a person with an apprentice lobster and crab fishing license or a student lobster and crab fishing license to demonstrate program completion through documentation that the license holder has verified landings of at least 4,000 pounds of lobster over a period of not less than 2 years. Nothing in this subsection prohibits the commissioner from establishing additional methods for a person with an apprentice lobster and crab fishing license or a student lobster and crab fishing license to demonstrate program completion.

This bill requires the Commissioner of Marine Resources to allow a person with an apprentice lobster and crab fishing license or a student lobster and crab fishing license to demonstrate apprentice program completion through verified landings of at least 4,000 pounds of lobster over a period of not less than 2 years.
