An Act To Require Ingredient Lists at Certain Retail Food Locations
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Maine as follows:
Sec. 1. 22 MRSA c. 566 is enacted to read:

FOOD AND BEVERAGE INGREDIENT INFORMATION
§ 2597. Commercial food producer; retail location; ingredient information
1. Definitions. As used in this chapter, unless the context otherwise indicates, the following terms have the following meanings.
A. "Commercial food producer" means a person who prepares or processes food or beverages for human consumption.
B. "Commissioner" means the Commissioner of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry.
C. "Retail location" means a place or establishment or premises where food or beverage items are sold or offered for sale for consumption on or off the premises.
2. Ingredient information. A commercial food producer with a retail location shall provide upon request a list of ingredients of each food and beverage offered for sale at the retail location.
3. Authority. The commissioner shall enforce this chapter in the same manner as is authorized for enforcement of chapter 551, subchapter 1.
