Amend the bill in the 4th indented paragraph after the title in the 2nd line (page 1, line 9 in L.D.) by inserting after the following: "number of" the following: 'voting'
Amend the bill by striking out all of the 5th indented paragraph after the title (page 1, lines 11 to 14 in L.D.) and inserting the following:
Whereas, ‘currently the Washington County Budget Advisory Committee has an even number of voting members and, in order to properly perform its duties regarding the 2019 county budget, a mechanism to prevent future tie votes needs to be in place prior to September of this year; and’
Amend the bill by striking out all of section 1 (page 1, lines 20 to 24 in L.D.) and inserting the following:
‘Sec. 1. 30-A MRSA §900-B, sub-§2, as enacted by PL 1991, c. 777, §1, is amended to read:
SUMMARY
This amendment makes the legislative member of the Washington County Budget Advisory Committee a nonvoting member, which will prevent a tie vote from occurring in the future by leaving an odd number of voting members on the committee.
