Amend the resolve by striking out all of the emergency preamble.
Amend the resolve by striking out all of section 2 and inserting the following:
‘Sec.
2. Commission membership. Resolved: That the commission consists of 12 members appointed as follows:
1. Two members of the Senate appointed by the President of the Senate, including members from each of the 2 parties holding the largest number of seats in the Legislature;
2. Five members of the House of Representatives appointed by the Speaker of the House, including members from each of the 2 parties holding the largest number of seats in the Legislature;
3. The Commissioner of Education or the commissioner's designee;
4. The Commissioner of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife or the commissioner's designee;
5. The Commissioner of Public Safety or the commissioner's designee;
6. The Commissioner of Health and Human Services or the commissioner's designee; and
7. The Commissioner of Administrative and Financial Services or the commissioner's designee.’
Amend the resolve in section 7 in the first line (page 2, line 11 in L.D.) by striking out the following: "December 4," and inserting the following: 'December 20,'
Amend the resolve by striking out all of the emergency clause.
Amend the resolve by relettering or renumbering any nonconsecutive Part letter or section number to read consecutively.
SUMMARY
This amendment removes the emergency preamble and emergency clause. It reduces the number of Senate members from 4 to 2 and increases the number of House members from 3 to 5. It adds the Commissioner of Administrative and Financial Services, or the commissioner's designee, to the Background Check Consolidation Commission. It moves the report deadline from December 4, 2019 to December 20, 2019.
